American Spirituals - Songbook (Acappella arrangements SATB)

This songbook is only a small illustration of the variety of acappella arrangements of American Spirituals for vocal groups, choirs and ensembles. This book brings a modern, attractive and comprehensive form for four voices (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) of traditional, well known, and lesser-known spirituals.

The vital and strong emotional energy of the songs for real life situations like birth, wedding, death, meeting with friends and family, parting, joy, desire for better life, freedom, truth and love and reconcilliation invite Europeans to draw on the treasure of their melodies, rhythmes, life wisdom and encouragement.

Although the American Spirituals are the corner stone of contemporary popular music, music schools still ignore them and don't include them neither in classical music nor modern music categories. This collection is to contribute to the re-popularization of the legendary American groups Fisk Jubilee Singers and Golden Gate Quartet.

On February 7, 2007 Congress and the United States Senate has honored the Spiritual in making it one of the most respected genres of music in the varied scale of American Music and were termed a National Treasure. With deep respect to classical authors like Moses Hogan, William Stickles, James authors like Moses Hogan, William Stickles, James Rosamond Johnson, James Weldon Johnson, John W. Work and many others Marek Slechta comes with a new collectioin of American Spirituals, which will serve as
